Conor Maynard: 'I'm not like Justin Bieber'

conor maynard

Conor Maynard has reportedly said that his sound is very different from fellow teen popstar Justin Bieber.

Maynard, who won the MTV Brand New for 2012 competition ahead of King Charles and Lana Del Rey last month, has drawn comparisons to Bieber due to their young age and tens of millions of YouTube hits.

Asked about his similarity to the Canadian singer, Maynard told Metro: "I've kind of gone for a very urban root with some quite British inputs as well. In terms of music, it's very different."

Of his sharp rise to fame, he added: "'It is kind of cool to think I did a lot of it by myself and through YouTube and I had to pick what covers I did and recorded it myself in my room and make the videos myself. I feel like I got here with not much help."

Regarding his collaboration with N.E.R.D's Pharrell Williams, Maynard said: "Obviously, Pharrell's a bit of a dream for someone like me to work with.

"He saw my videos on YouTube and reached out to my label [Parlophone] and said, 'Do you look after this kid, who is he?'

"'It was all sorted out through him pushing it. It's just cool. Saying 'I worked with Pharrell' is just insane. He's an amazing person to have belief in you."

Piers Morgan: 'I was almost killed by Bruce Willis'

Piers Morgan has spoken about various run-ins with celebrities during his time in America in recent years.

Morgan revealed that model Kate Moss enjoys kicking him whenever they meet in public.

"She came up to me at some charity thing with Naomi Campbell and gave me a full, haymaking kick," he told The Mirror.

"And then the next time we had dinner in a restaurant, she was opposite me... and kicked me again. She doesn't like me, I don't like her. She kicked me, hard. Right on the shin, repeatedly.

"I looked at her and said, 'Kate, why are you kicking me?' She said, 'Because I want to.' And cackled. She was completely off her head. And I replied, 'Well, can you just stop kicking me, OK?' She looked blank, and gave me another kick. It was a bizarre conversation."

The presenter explained that he has "banned" Madonna from his CNN talkshow, saying: "She's a complete con artist and those arms are just terrifying.

When I got the CNN job I banned her from the show, permanently. She responded by saying she'd never heard of me, but we both know she's lying."

Morgan added that the closest he had come to being "killed" by a celebrity was with Die Hard actor Bruce Willis.

"I once wrote a bitchy piece about his British bride, Emma [Heming], saying she looked like a young version of his ex-wife Demi Moore - proving if you're a superstar you don't have to worry about the normal ageing or relationship process," he said.

"One week later, I was at the next table to them in a restaurant. Bruce stared at me, smirked, and said: 'Embrace death, Piers!' and then started sending me tequila shots until I was nearly drowning - each time with the entreaty, 'Embrace death!'

"Eventually I managed to persuade him to do the same, and the pair of us got absolutely hammered. At the end of the evening, he bear-hugged me, very hard. 'Will I have to embrace death tonight?' I asked him.

"'I haven't decided yet,' he replied. 'Well, if I do, I know how I'll die…' I told him. 'Oh yeah, how?' he slurred.

"'Hard, Bruce. I'll die hard.' And he finally laughed."

Morgan recently described Madonna as a "gruesome drunken aunt" after her Super Bowl performance.

As she strolled onto the stage at London's ExCeL centre, Amy Childs looked ready for a night out in her home county of Essex in a sklntight black PVC catsuit which highlighted her pneumatic curves.

But in fact, the former TOWIE star was actually promoting her own range of strip eyelashes.

However, nobody was looking at Amy's lashes as she posed for photographers astride a pink scooter.

The 21-year-old redhead teamed the sexy all-in-one outfit with a pair of sky-high silver heels and a pair of pearl earrings for the photocall.

Amy has teamed up with beauty brand Blink+Go for the new range, which she has decided to call Amy Childs' Lashes.

The range features eight different styles with names such as Heartbreaker, Tease, Temptress and Flirt, and is the latest move from Amy to further her involvement in the beauty industry.

Amy said of the range: 'As a beautician it’s a dream to have my very own eyelash range – I’ve really thought about the eight different styles and there’s a lash to suit everyone. I love them and cannot wait to see people out and about in Amy Childs’ Lashes.'

The pretty star opened her own beauty salon in Brentwood, Essex, shortly after leaving TOWIE - the opening of which was documented on her own spin-off reality show It's All About Amy.

But Amy admitted in a recent interview that she still struggles to believe that she is making a name for herself as a businesswoman.

Helen Flanagan: I'll never go topless

Helen Flanagan has defended her choice to wear low-cut dresses yet again as she vows she will never go topless because she wants to save that for her boyfriend Scott Sinclair.

Helen has carved a name for herself as being a frequent wearer of low-cut, tight-fitting, short dresses, but she has promised that although she likes flaunting her assets, that's all fans will ever get to see as she's saving the real deal for her footballer boyfriend.

She said: 'I'm a bit of a daddy's girl plus I've got a boyfriend and I want to save that kind of thing for him.

It's not that I would never do it, and those sorts of pictures can look absolutely beautiful, but I'm an actress and I want to be taken seriously.'

Her admission comes as she stepped out last night in a relatively demure dress, in comparison to her usual choices, and sporting her new hair extensions.

Last month she was heavily criticised for stepping out for a night out in a revealing Jean Paul Gaultier corset dress.

After being inundated with comments about the frock, which many claimed was far too low and an attention-grabbing move, she hit back and told her followers on Twitter that she'd have to resort to wearing polo necks from now on.
